If you’re a heavy business or personal traveler, you probably already know how exceptionally handy a hand held clothes steamer is. A hand held clothes steamer, also known as a garment steamer, will allow you to take hopelessly wrinkled shirts, skirts, pants, dresses and suits, which have been stuffed in the corner of your suitcase for a week, and revive them to wearable status in a matter of minutes. All you need is a small amount of water and a few minutes and you’ll be wrinkle free and out the door.

Hand held clothes steamers are one of my favorite little inventions. The best part is they’re not just useful for clothes. They have a ton of different uses and applications around the house and they’re easier to use, store and carry than their larger counterparts. A week doesn’t go by where I don’t use one for something or another.

Here’s a list of just a few things that I use my steamer for:

• Cleaning the drapes – Drapes are just fabric, like any of the clothes you wear so cleaning them with your hand held clothes steamer is natural and easy. Drapes often go over looked in a standard weekly cleaning, but that will change if you use a steamer. Your drapes will be looking brand new all the time.
• Removing small stains on carpeting and rugs – Just like an industrial carpet cleaning machine, your hand held can use it ability to steam to clean stains on your rugs and carpet. And if you have kids, you know how much money you can save if you could clean stains off the carpet without calling in the professionals or renting clunky cleaners from the store.
• Cleaning grout lines in the kitchen and shower – The grout lines around title work is notorious for getting dirty and housing bacteria. Sometimes soap, water and a scrubber just isn’t enough to get everything as clean as you want. Allow the heated steam from your hand held to unlock all the bad stuff from your grout for easy cleaning and disposal.
• Sanitize an area – One of the amazing things about steam is its ability to sanitize or sterilize an area because of the heat and ability to penetrate small areas. Think for a moment about your house or apartment. Are there some places that you’d like to know are clean and sanitary? Parents, how about the surfaces where y our baby eats?
